The sun was shining brightly on Saturday (6th Mar) morning, but it did not hinder the enthusiasm of the students to learn. This outdoor internship allowed everyone to enter a historical tunnel to discover the historical deeds and cultural heritage of Johor Bahru Old Chinese Temple (Chinese: 柔佛古廟; pinyinRóufú Gǔmiào) known as Old Temple (Chinese: 古廟; pinyinGǔmiào) by the locals. And at the same time, they went to the Johor Bahru Chinese Culture museum, learn about the history and culture of the Chinese community in Johor together.

Surrounded by towering skyscrapers, the ancient temple is one of the oldest buildings in Johor Bahru. The more than 150-year-old temple tour is an important celebration of the Chinese community in Johor Bahru. In the past, hundreds of thousands of people participated in the Chingay known as the “Parade of Deities” every year. The event was certified by the Malaysian government as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2012 and has also received international attention.

Under the guidance of tour guides and lecturers from our school, the students listened to the detailed introduction of this century-old historic site. We believe that in the near future, prospective tour guides can also introduce these scenic spots with strong characteristics to more domestic and foreign tourists.
