As part of their field training, GTH Muar tour guide course students journeyed to Kluang, Johor—fondly known as the “Bat Town”—for an immersive exploration of local culture, heritage, and storytelling.
At the historic Kluang Railway Station, built in 1911, students walked through echoes of the past. Once a hub for rubber transport and wartime history, the station now stands as a nostalgic landmark. Adjacent to the new station, the old wooden platform and the iconic 1938 Kluang Rail Coffee Shop still welcome visitors with timeless charm—and plans are underway to preserve the site as a railway museum.
No visit to Kluang is complete without the aroma of its famed “Kopi Cap Televisyen” (Television Brand coffee). At the factory, students witnessed traditional roasting techniques and learned how to narrate this homegrown brand’s journey from humble beginnings to national recognition.
The tour ended on Jalan Ismail and Jalan Lambak, where 1920s shophouses with distinctive stone lions whispered tales of Chinese pioneers, cultural fusion, and timeless beauty.
This wasn’t just practice—it was learning how to tell Malaysia’s story with depth, warmth, and authenticity.
