From different cities, but driven by the same dream, students from GTH Johor Bahru, Muar, Kuala Lumpur, and Ipoh came together for a meaningful three day two night field practice journey. This cross state practical training is one of the most engaging and challenging components of the tour guide course, designed to sharpen skills while deepening understanding of a guide’s real responsibilities.
The journey began in Ipoh, where heritage streets and natural surroundings revealed stories shaped by time. It continued to Kampar, a former mining town that reflects Malaysia’s industrial roots, before moving on to the modern rhythm of Kuala Lumpur. Across geography, history, culture, and economy, students rediscovered Malaysia from multiple perspectives, learning how to interpret places beyond surface level facts.
This field practice was not just about moving from one destination to another. It was about observation, teamwork, communication, and learning how to manage real situations on the road. Through shared experiences, students gained confidence and clarity in their role as future guides.
A tour guide is more than someone who leads the way. A guide connects people to culture, turns local stories into lasting memories, and gives meaning to landscapes that might otherwise be overlooked. This journey reminded everyone that guiding is not only a skill, but a responsibility carried with heart and purpose.
